After the denim garment workers were found to be affected by silicosis, in 2004, the Turkish government banned sandblasting in denim factories in 2009. Sadly, that was not the end of this hazardous practice across the globe. Sandblasting just moved over to, and expanded in, countries like Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, China, Egypt, and elsewhere.
Sandblasting Kills! Sandblasting causes an incurable, and for most of them, fatal, lung disease to the workers while they make those worn-out and soft jeans for the denim lovers.
